Subbuteo is a classic action game that simulates soccer with finger flicks. It is played on a large cloth pitch called a "board," with teams of miniature soccer players mounted on smooth, round bases. The soccer players must kick the ball by flicking their bases, causing them to slide around the pitch and hit the ball. The rules simulate almost every detail of a soccer match, including possession and passing, throw-ins, goal kicks, and corner kicks. There is even a large section in the rules dedicated to free kicks.
This game, far more popular in European countries than in the United States, allows collectors to purchase teams of soccer players representing dozens of teams and countries from around the world, along with enhancements to soccer stadiums such as grandstands filled with cheering fans, referees standing on the sidelines, even stadium lights.
