Peace has been made between Japan and China and to show his goodwill, the Chinese emperor has given a giant panda to the Japanese emperor.
The players have now been given the honorable task of looking after the panda and the emperor's beautiful bamboo garden. However, it is easier said than done when you have to both keep the garden neat and keep track of the panda that eats the beautiful bamboo.
Takenoko is an aesthetically beautiful game with beautiful figures, beautiful landscape tiles, and fun bamboo tiles that can be stacked on top of each other. However, don't be fooled by the cute style, because underneath the surface there is a well-functioning game with a lot to think about. The player must make sure that the panda has something to eat, they must expand the garden and make sure that the bamboo plants have enough water. They must also make sure that the gardener takes care of the garden before the panda has eaten it all.
A family game with a lot to think about and several different paths to victory.
