Hive Pocket (Danish)
In stock at the following stores: Games København, Games Aarhus
Hive is a strategy game for two players that is not confined to a board and can be played anywhere on any flat surface. The Hive base game consists of twenty-two pieces, eleven black and eleven white, resembling different creatures, each with its own way of moving. Hive Pocket includes the Mosquito and Ladybug expansions, giving 26 pieces in all.
As there is no setup, the game begins when the first piece is laid down. As further pieces are placed, they form a pattern that becomes the playing surface. (The pieces themselves become the board.) Unlike other games of this kind, pieces are never eliminated, and not all of them have to be played. The aim is to completely surround the opponent's queen while trying to stop the opponent from doing the same to your own queen. The first player to completely surround the opponent's queen wins the game.
An abstract strategy game in the vein of chess.
