Both players start with six pawns in their base and one pawn in each of the six spaces between the two bases. The aim of the game is to get your pawns into the opponent's home base or as close to it as possible.
On a turn, a player has one move, which consists of first moving a pawn one space towards the other player's base. The player may then move any one of their pawns as many spaces as the number of pawns that were in the space the first pawn was moved to.
The game ends when the pieces have passed each other.
The components are red and black wooden pawns and seven bamboo sticks that form the playing track.
