Desperate Oasis (English)

Card game for 2 players from Weast Coast Games, designed by Dan Cassaro and illustrated by Brett Stenson and Young Jerks. The players fight with desert animals for control of five oases, and the Weast Coast edition has wooden pieces and a retro-style box.

Over three rounds the players place animal cards at the oases, either face up or hidden. Each animal has its own ability, and three identical animals at the same oasis give access to palm trees, which increase the value. The player with the most points after the third round wins. The hidden cards and the fight for the individual oases make the game more tactical than an ordinary trick-taking game, but without it becoming a mean-spirited take-that game.
