Verdun 1916: Steel Inferno (English)
In stock at the following stores: Games København, Games Aarhus
Card-driven wargame for two by Walter Vejdovsky from Fellowship of Simulations, illustrated by Sébastien Brunel and Jacques Tardi. Contains a game board, cards, wooden blocks, trench counters, 10 dice, a rulebook and a scenario booklet.
The game follows the Battle of Verdun month by month through 1916. On a turn, one card is chosen from a hand of eight. The card provides action points for moving, digging trenches and bringing up reserves, and many provide artillery fire that can be followed up by infantry assaults. Both sides must choose between reinforcing Verdun and gaining victory points elsewhere.
