Ultra-compact travel edition of Catan (also known as Settlers or Settlers of Catan), one of the most popular board games of recent times.
In Catan, the players are settlers competing to build the most successful colony on the island of Catan. Catan is made up of a number of terrain tiles that give the players different resources. The players use these resources to build new roads, houses and cities.
The island is assembled from hexagonal tiles before the game begins and is therefore different from game to game, which gives great variety. During the game the players can trade with each other, making it possible to get hold of resources they do not have access to.
The success of Catan is mainly down to its combination of luck and strategy. There is rarely time to be bored, as resources are handed out on everyone's turns, and because players can trade with each other there is a good deal of interaction between them.
