Play as Aphrodite or one of the other Greek gods in this beautifully produced game. Santorini is a simply structured strategy game for all types of players. The gameplay is simple enough for children to join in, while offering strategic depth for the more hardcore player. It is a reinterpretation of an older abstract game (more than 30 years old), reworked by mathematician Dr. Gordon Hamilton.
This version is non-abstract and has a theme of gods and heroes, each with special powers that add an extra layer to the game. One of the gods, for example, lets you build twice in one turn.
A turn consists of two moves:
- Move one of your pieces to a space adjacent to the one it is standing on. You can move your Builder piece to a space on the same level as it is already on, one level higher, or you can go down as many levels as you like.
- Build a building on the same level as the Builder piece you moved was on. If you build on top of the third level, a dome piece is placed instead. That space is now out of the game.
