UNO Zero is a tabletop card game in which the aim is to score as low as possible (ideally zero points, hence the name). Each player starts with a set of six face-down cards in front of them. The grid consists of three columns and two rows. At the start, each player may turn over and reveal two of their cards. After that, all players try to reveal all their face-down cards by drawing one card from the pile each turn and swapping it with one of their own cards. Two cards of the same colour or the same number in one column are discarded. This is how players get rid of their points.
What is special about UNO Zero is that the typical UNO action cards are part of this game. The reverse card changes the direction of play. The 'draw two' or 'draw four' card makes players add more columns to their grid. And the 'skip card' makes the next player miss their turn.
This makes the game very dynamic, surprising and fun.
Every round is different, and you can be very lucky and have only two cards left at the very end, or unlucky and still have 12 cards in front of you when another player ends the game.
When there is only one face-down card left in your area, you must say UNO, otherwise you are penalised by drawing two more cards.
It is easy to learn and get started, as the rules are quickly explained and almost everyone already knows the famous UNO action cards.
