Yak
In stock at the following stores: Games København, Games Aarhus
In Yak, the village elders have given the players the task of building a large stone tower in the middle of the village to guide the merchants and their yaks through the Himalayas. On every turn a yak arrives in the village with its cart. Does it carry stone for the tower or food for your reserves? Or will you have to visit the market to find what you need?
Each player builds their own tower. On each turn you play cards from your hand, which determine the action you take. You can build on the tower by trading food for stone from the yak in front of you - but keep an eye on your stock, as the different yaks require different types of food in exchange. You can also spend the turn getting new food, either from the yak's cart or from the market. At the end of each turn the yaks move forward a step, and each player now has a new yak with other goods in front of them. So it takes overview and ingenuity to keep track of your own stock of food and stone - and also to keep an eye on which goods are passed on to the next player when the turn is over.
The game ends when the first player completes the fourth level of their tower. Points are then counted and a winner is found.
The game can be made even more challenging by playing with the included 'master builder' variant. Here 3 goal cards are chosen at the start of the game, which give extra points if they are fulfilled.
