Backgammon board with a playing surface in black natural cork and a frame of laminated wood. The board closes around the checkers.

Cork deadens the sound of the checkers more than wood and faux leather and gives a softer landing. In return, the cork is more vulnerable to sharp objects than a lacquered wooden surface.
