After a successful bank robbery, you and your fellow thieves are lying low and enjoying the good life. Most of the money has been stashed away, and the rest has been invested in businesses across the city. Everything is going to plan until the police make a breakthrough in their investigation. Accusations are made, fingers are pointed, and after a heated argument you decide to go your separate ways.
Chaos breaks out as the SWAT team is called in and begins closing the city's exits. Your only choice now is to escape the city before it is completely locked down. But you need a plan - a good route that lets you leave the city while recovering as much of the money as possible.
You will have to call in some favours and hire the local gangs to create diversions. Bribing the police would also be a good idea, but it is not cheap. Disguises can help, but they do not fool everyone. Setting the police on the trail of your former colleagues will give you a better chance of escaping, but the other thieves are thinking the same...
Will you escape the city with the most money, or will the police lock the city down before you can get away?
In Escape Plan the players are the thieves, but they can influence the movements of the police officers in every single round. The robbers move on a modular board and try to reach the best locations to recover their loot and escape the city with more money than the other thieves. The officers try to foil their escape plan – by force if necessary. Players play cards to help their escape and slow down the other players. Players take actions that allow them to move and to engage gangs, mules and snitches.
It contains asymmetric roles set up by missions that players can carry out during the game while avoiding the police. The players' roles as thieves are individual to each player. In the end, only the player who gets away with the most money wins.
The game design is inspired by great heist films.
