Formula D
Formula D is a racing game where players can compete against each other in a traditional Formula 1 race or a street race in the city streets.
The innovative and special thing about Formula D is the included gearboxes. Each player has their own gearbox with 6 different gears. Each gear corresponds to a corresponding die. The higher the gear, the further you can shift. The die for first gear is, for example, a regular 6-sided die with an interval of 2-4, while sixth gear has a die with the numbers 21-30. Every time a car has to shift, the car's owner must decide whether the car should stay in the same gear or shift one notch up or down in the gearbox. The challenge is that you must not drive too fast through the turns and therefore you must constantly be aware of where your car is on the track and which gear it is driving in.
The base game includes 2 tracks. Monaco, which is Formula 1, and a fictional city used for street racing. The basic principles of the two different variants are the same, but in street racing, players are also assigned special cars with different abilities and there are more options to influence the outcome of the race with weapons, nitro, dirty tricks and drifting.
Since Formula D works extensively with probability using the many different-sided dice in the game, it can also be used in mathematics teaching.
