Greece, 480 BC. It is the dawn of classical Greek civilisation. After the overwhelming victory of Xerxes' army at Thermopylae, the Greeks return to their land and continue the hard work on the islands. Building and developing great cities is the next step into a new era.
Found settlements on a Greek island and let them grow into great cities. Build statues in honour of the gods or complete one of the various temples on the island. All this work requires a lot of marble, which can be found in the many quarries. Houses next to a quarry can extract marble, but some quarries produce more marble than others.
In each round of Hellas, the players choose an action on the display. When they choose to build a house, a palace or a square on the island, everyone else may carry out that action too. Deciding to extract marble (to get more money) will also help other players, because they too earn money through their houses next to the mines. Building columns in temples or raising a statue is the only type of action you carry out alone, but at the end of the game all players can score points because of your work.
Build your settlements strategically on the island to get the most out of the quarries. Timing is crucial: most of the actions you choose can also be carried out straight away by all other players. Think ahead to outwit your opponents and score the most points with your cities.
