Hive Pocket Ultimate (English)
Hive is a strategy game for two players that is not restricted by a board and can be played anywhere on any flat surface. The Hive base game consists of 22 pieces, eleven black and eleven white, resembling a range of different creatures, each with its own unique way of moving.
With no set-up, the game begins when the first piece is laid down. As the following pieces are placed, a pattern forms that becomes the playing surface. (The pieces themselves become the board.) Unlike other similar games, the pieces are never eliminated, and it is not necessary to play them all. The object of the game is to completely surround the opponent's queen while trying to prevent the opponent from doing the same to your own queen. The first player to completely surround the opponent's queen wins the game.
Hive Ultimate is the same game, but now includes all the expansions: Ladybug & Mosquito and Pillbug. This edition also contains a booklet of strategy tips. Everything in one zip bag, to take anywhere and play. The Pocket version is also available.
Competitive Hive players regard Hive PLM (Hive with Pillbug, Ladybug and Mosquito) as the standard for play in official tournaments. The game is much more fun and has more depth. Try it and you will never play the old Hive again.
