Inkwell
In stock at the following stores: Games Aarhus
The monastery of Iona is renowned for its famous manuscripts, filled with gold leaf and remarkable calligraphy. In fact, thanks to talent and discipline, you have become a masterly illuminator.
In Inkwell, each player either takes supplies from a shared mat or chooses to score and move on to a new page in their own codex. The supplies include coloured ink dice, gold leaf and technique cards with special powers and effects. Everything you take must fit on your manuscript card, and if you empty the last inkwell of a given type, the abbot ticks the playing time down towards the end of the game. If you choose to turn the page, you score for all your finished work and collect your ability cards alongside, which will benefit you for the rest of the game and build an 'engine' of learned skills. You also receive a reward of gold leaf and a chance to choose your next page to work on. Be aware, though, that if the abbot becomes upset, he can force you to move on before you have finished.
Inkwell is a strategic and tactical game with few rules and plenty of choices, designed to celebrate beautiful historical manuscripts and surprisingly tricky gameplay for groups or solo play.
