Innovation Ultimate is a box set that contains Innovation and all five expansions, including a brand new expansion titled The Unseen. Many, many updates have been made to this edition. First, Age 11 has been added, representing the recent past and potential near future at the time of release. A lot of language and mechanics have been streamlined, and in particular, the expansions have been heavily reworked to be more accessible and easy to include during play.
Innovation is Carl Chudyk's tableau builder of endless possibilities, taking you on a journey from prehistory all the way to the present day... and the near future! In this game, you build a civilization using only cards; there are no cards, no pieces, no dice, no tokens. The game's 115 innovations - each represented by a card with a unique effect, organized into eleven) ages. Each innovation's effect is thematically tied to its identity, allowing you to either elevate your society or attack your opponents.
In addition to directly influencing your opponents, you can also reap the benefits of their technologies if you collect enough visible icons on your board. Strategically building your card table, often branching out across categories and defending against demands, is essential to success.
To win, you must claim achievements, which you can earn by accumulating points or by meeting certain criteria with the innovations you have built. No Innovation game is played the same way.
