Junta places players in a Latin American dictatorship with everything from extortion, liquidations and betrayal.
Each player controls their own office and must try to amass as much money as possible during the game. Before the game begins, one of the players is appointed as El Presidente. In each round, El Presidente must draw cards that tell him or her how much money the state has available.
Now El Presidente must distribute the money to the various offices. However, none of the other players know how much money El Presidente has and therefore they also do not know how much he or she chooses to keep for themselves.
The other players must try to kill each other and convince El Presidente that they need money the most.
If some players become very dissatisfied with the distribution of financial resources, they may attempt a coup. The Borker War breaks out and a new El Presidente may be appointed.
The winner is obviously the player who has the most money stashed away in the Swiss bank account.
Junta was first released in 1978 and a new and updated version was released in 2015. It's a long game, but also incredibly fun if you can get a group of friends together who love to discuss, negotiate and stab each other in the back.
