After being stripped of all their possessions, a wizard, a warrior, an elf, and a dwarf are forced to rob the local Magic Maze shopping mall for all the equipment they need for their next adventure. They agree to first map out the entire maze, then find each person's favorite store, and then find the exit. To avoid the surveillance of the guards, who regarded their arrival suspiciously, all four will carry out their robberies simultaneously and then rush towards the exit. That's the plan anyway... but can they pull it off?
Magic Maze is a cooperative real-time game. Each player can control any hero to make the hero perform a very specific action that the other players do not have access to: Move north, explore a new area, take an escalator... All this requires tight cooperation between the players to carefully move the heroes. However, you may only communicate for short periods during the game; the rest of the time, you must play without giving each other visual or auditory signals. If all the heroes succeed in leaving the mall within the limited time allotted for the game, after each having stolen a very specific item, everyone wins together.
At the start of the game, you only have three minutes to act. Hourglass spaces you encounter along the way give you more time. If the hourglass ever runs out completely, all players lose the game: Your recklessness has aroused suspicion, and the mall's security guards will catch you!
