Otter Pocket 2ND Edition
In Otter, players race to play all of their cards first by placing cute creatures on otter bellies.
But Otter is a race game that teaches patience, a game where drawing cards provides advantages, and a sweet game that will get you thinking.
The Play: There are three otters to play on. Each otter has a rule about numbers on its head and a rule about colors on its tail. You must follow at least one rule to play on the otter, but if you follow both, you can keep playing on that otter until you follow only one rule. This can lead to some epic turns!
The Twist: You can draw cards to flip or swap heads or tails before playing, changing the otter's rules. Drawing cards helps you play bigger combinations, but it might also give you cards you can't play this turn.
The Final Touch: Players keep cards they didn't play between rounds, then draw until they have 10 cards. So if you have a big combination (many cards of the same suit), you are incentivized to hold onto those cards for as long as possible unless you think you can play your entire hand this round. If you play your combinations too early and someone else goes out first, you lose your head start for the next round. Playing fast is fun, but the strategy is in knowing when to play fast, when to hold back, and when to twist!
