Paladins of the West Kingdom takes place during a turbulent period in the history of the West Frankish kingdom around the year 900. Despite efforts to develop the city, the surrounding areas are still threatened by foreign powers. Saracen scouts roam the border, while Vikings plunder and ravage. Even the Byzantines from the east have shown a darker side to themselves. As nobles, players must gather workers from the city to protect it from its enemies, build defenses, and spread the Christian faith throughout the land. Fortunately, you are not alone. In his great wisdom, the king has sent his best knights to help you. So prepare your horses and sharpen your swords. The paladins are on their way!
Build outposts and defenses, hire monks, and confront the enemies of the land. Each round, players recruit a specific paladin and gather workers to complete specific tasks. Over the course of the game, players increase their faith, strength, and influence. Not only do these things factor into the players' final score, but they also increase the impact of the players' actions. The game ends after seven rounds, and the player with the most points wins.
