The year is 1667 and you are a pirate in the Caribbean. A Spanish galleon is approaching and you and your crew have decided to plunder the Spanish. But what you haven't told them is that you have no intention of sharing the treasure with them.

They say they're loyal to you, but you've heard whispers of mutiny. You know you can't trust any of them. In Tortuga, it's all about knowledge and communication. From turn to turn, it can vary whether you get the most out of trusting your crew, yourself, or even your enemies. No player has their own cards, so you'll have to trust each other about what's hidden under the shared event cards you have lying around - or not. Unless you're depressed, you shouldn't turn over the cards blindly, as almost half of the cards can hurt you.

You should always try to get a look at the map first or rely on information from a trusted fellow pirate. By knowing where the harmful cards are hiding, you can force an enemy to turn them over and suffer the consequences. Additionally, you can vote on attacks, mutinies, and riots.

The most successful players in Tortuga 1667 are those who, through careful planning, opportunism, and thoughtful communication, end up with the largest share of the treasure. Although the box says that Tortuga 1667 can be played by two players, in our opinion you should have no fewer than 4.
